For all of the .NET developers out there, we have just posted online documentation for our .NET API. You can access the documentation directly here: http://www.cloudinclude.com/documentation/dotnet

This initial .NET release allows you to embed cloudinclude hosted content on the server side for those that are concerned with SEO optimization. As oppossed to the javascript implementation, search engines will be able to more effectively crawl your embedded content utilizing the .NET API. We are currently working on a PHP library as well for those that prefer it over .NET.

We are also open to suggestions to bringing additional API libraries authored in other programming languages, but that is dependent on your feedback so let us know what you want!

Tue, 09 Nov 2010 21:26:00 -0800 Simple CMS for the cloud http://cloudinclude.posterous.com/simple-cms-for-the-cloud http://cloudinclude.posterous.com/simple-cms-for-the-cloud

Had an informal chat with one of the editors over at www.cmscritic.com. Here is the link to our chat transcript:

http://www.cmscritic.com/introduction-to-cloudinclude-a-simple-cms-for-the-cloud/

Had I known that the article would be published verbatim from our chat, I would have attempted to be a bit more terse :). Nonetheless, it was a good discussion and hopefully many of you can glean a little bit more information regarding what cloudinclude is all about. Thanks again to Mike Johnston over at CMS Critic.

Fri, 05 Nov 2010 15:23:00 -0700 .NET library for cloudinclude http://cloudinclude.posterous.com/net-library-for-cloudinclude http://cloudinclude.posterous.com/net-library-for-cloudinclude

Today we just launched support for building cloudinclude sites with ASP.NET. You can download the .NET library by visiting: http://www.cloudinclude.com/documentation/dotnet

The download archive contains a cloudinclude.dll class library accompanied by a readme.txt file with general documentation on how to use it.

We will be adding full documentation to our website on how to utilize the library soon so stay tuned for that. However, if you are adventurous and would like to get started right away with the library you can have at it.

As always, please leave us feedback so that we can help meet your needs!

Sat, 30 Oct 2010 17:04:00 -0700 Force Secure phpMyAdmin with HTTPS http://cloudinclude.posterous.com/force-secure-phpmyadmin-with-https http://cloudinclude.posterous.com/force-secure-phpmyadmin-with-https

When setting up cloudinclude.com we obviously needed a quick and easy way to work with the database, but not have to open up the unencrypted ports to access MySQL.  While it is super easy to install phpMyAdmin for web-based database management on Ubuntu by sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin the default install lets you login over http sending your username and password in the clear.

We work fast and late on cloudinclude.com trying to make a great web based application for easy content management and surely one of us will login eventually over http without SSL protection.

Fortunatly it is quick and easy to force phpMyAdmin to use SSL and will redirect to the https protocol even if they go to http.  Simply add this line to your phpMyAdmin config.inc.php.

$cfg['ForceSSL'] = TRUE;

Do bear in mind that you already have to have an SSL cert in place and setup.  They are available for as little as $9.00.  If you don't want to pay and you are using it purely on the backend you can look into generating a self-signed cert for free and ignore the browser warning.  You will still get encryption, but you loose the third-party verification that you really are connecting to the server you intend to connect to which is what paying gets you.

Hope this helps someone and remember to check out cloudinclude.com to work in some CMS magic into your existing website in minutes!

Getting ready to launch our web application soon. We have created a simple screencast that gives you a sneak peek out how all of this is going to work. Check out the video below and see how cloudinclude works in under 2 minutes. I used a firefox screen capture plugin called "Capture Fox" for this screencast, so props to the developer on that extension. If you also are interested in creating simple screencasts I recommend checking the plugin out at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8090/

Sat, 23 Oct 2010 09:54:00 -0700 Developing a CMS Web Application http://cloudinclude.posterous.com/developing-a-cms-web-application http://cloudinclude.posterous.com/developing-a-cms-web-application

There is no shortage of CMS systems out of there. In fact I use Wordpress and I love it. So why would we want to build another one? We are not attempting to replace Wordpress in any way but sometimes Wordpress can be overly complex for the beginner and it may be a bit of overkill for most purposes.

Our goal is to develop a platform that will allow any developer with just rudimentary html and javascript skills to set up a website with content management capabilities. No need to know any server side technologies like PHP or ASP.net or having to deal with any database related configuration.

So how do we intend to accomplish this? The system will allow developers to post content to a database hosted by us in the cloud, so you won't have to deal with database setup, load balancing, scaling, etc. :). You'll have administrative access to perform updates, deletes and insertion of posted content from a simple web based gui with a rich text editor. We'll then provide you with a javascript api to include any content that you create into your website. And thats it, super simple.

If this is a system that you're interested in stay tuned.
